Mr. Tony Lewis presented Clayton Ponder, Wesley Davis, Curtis Ivey, Jacob Barnes, Megan Bailey and Riley Perkins, all members of the Black Belt Club at Dickson Taekwondo, with certificates and patches for the work they have completed. Clayton & Riley were presented with certificates for Physical Fitness- they did 100 kicks, more than 10 push-ups, more than 20 sit ups, balanced on one foot for 90 seconds, and ran ¼ of a mile to earn this certificate; Riley was awarded the Imagination certificate- she wants to be a Taekwondo instructor & dentist. Both were awarded with the Inspiration certificate- they did a martial arts drawing, and described what inspiration is, encouraging the student to begin achieving goals with the “I can do it” attitude; Clayton was also awarded the Actualization certificate for attending at least 100 classes and stating that perseverance gives you determination and builds a strong work ethic. Wesley and Curtis both received their certificates for Imagination- stating that they want to be promoted to the next rank at their next available testing date, both are wanting to receive A’s and B’s in school, and they explained that Imagination encourages students to set goals. Jacob received three certificate and patches, one for TEAM- he participated in two school-sponsored events, and all tournaments -currently ranked 1st in the CTF Tennessee region, the other 2 certificate were Inspiration and Actualization. Megan also received a certificate for TEAM- she is currently ranked 3rd in the CTF Tennessee region and certificate for Actualization- she stated that perseverance means having determination and keeping a good work ethic.
The Dickson Black Belt club trains locally at their dojo located at 608 Henslee Drive.
They do demonstrations at civil organizations, ball games, charity drives, schools and etc.  They have also performed at a Nashville Kats game.
